February

We started off the month with Caiden getting pink eye on them morning of his two year check-up (good timing I guess!)  The poor guy had yucky crusty junk covering his eyes but it only lasted two days.  The eye drops were GREAT but not so fun to put in.  One day left!  His 2-year check-up was great...he is apparently on the level of a beginning 3 year old so I'd say he's on track!  Here are some of the things he's doing now:
-knows how
 to spell his name
-name all of the colors (including magenta and gray)
-count up to 13
-name all of the shapes (including a crescent and an octagon!)
-still loves sucking his thumb
-not a very good eater...hates trying new things (unless it's
 sweet...he knows somehow!)
-talking in complete sentences (short ones =)

He weighed 32 lbs. and is 37 1/2 inches tall.  He's a big one!  Still off the charts of course!

On Sat. I went with Shannon, and my new recruit, Julie from high school, to an Uppercase event.  We had a great time getting updates with from the company and doing make and take projects.  LOVE getting new ideas!  The new Spring/Summer catalog has so many great ideas!

After I got home, we noticed Caiden's ear draining...I've never seen this before.  There was actually liquid dripping out.  So wierd!  Back to the Dr. at 7pm on Sat. night (thank goodness the FastER on Renner!)  He had an ear infection but the tube that we couldn't see due to wax at his 2 year is still in his left ear and doing its job!!!  So, add ear drops and an antibiotic to the list!

Ice Day!

School was cancelled today due to icy roads so we got to sleep in!  6:45 baby!!!  After Caiden's favorite breakfast of pancakes and chocolate milk, we played in the playroom most of the morning building with Lego's.  Caiden called Bebe and Poppy, Mimi, and his friend Addi!  Jon and I watched Fireproof during Caiden's nap (we cleaned most of the morning too and needed a break!)

Wednesday night was typical for us...our weekly trip to McDonalds for chicken nuggets before gymnastics.  Addi and Rowan joined us for dinner and then we were off.  We've gone through several different coaches at gymnastics since Coach Jason left and the change definitely shows in Caiden's behavior.  He's back to his old routines of pitching a fit when we switch stations and when he doesn't get his way.  I told Jon he'll have to do gymnastics with the little guy whenever I get pregnant b/c his behavior STRESSES me out!!!  His new coach, Coach Kim, is great with Caiden so I'm sure he'll warm up to her soon =)

Back to work tomorrow-two more days until the weekend!

Play-doh

We decided to get out the Play-doh for Caiden to play with for the first time today. He wasn't really sure what to do with it so we made a pancake (his favorite breakfast food). Needless to say, his play-doh stayed a pancake the entire time but he had fun holding the shapes we made! I expected him to make a mess...he's a boy! Thanks Aunt Casey-I had fun playing with my Play-doh!

New words...

Apparently turning two means your vocabulary expands immensely...while at gymnastics last Wednesday, Caiden told Jon to "shut up."  He heard me say it joking around with a friend and I've heard him say it in the complete wrong context up until it came out as, "Dada, shut it!)  Sit me down and strap me in because I feel like this is going to be a bumpy ride =)

Caiden Turns 2

Caiden had his 2nd birthday party today!  The weather was absolutely gorgeous (80 degrees on January 3rd!) so we decided to spend most of the party outside in the backyard.  Our friends Jon, Chilet, and Austin let us borrow their bounce house and the big boys had the washers and disc golf basket out.

Caiden is really big into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse right now so we did a Mickey Mouse themed party.  He was so excited to wake up from his nap and see the house decorated with Mickey!  We even found a shirt he got a long time ago that had Mickey Mouse on it to fit with the theme!

Caiden didn't get into opening the presents but loved the cake and ice cream!  He even tried to blow the candles out!

We had a family dinner afterwards and grilled out hamburgers with the Stewards and then they spent the night again!  The parents are having more fun with the sleep overs than the kids at this stage!

Caiden's actual birthday is January 4th (Sunday) and we're planning on taking him back to Founder's Park to play outside before it gets cold again!

sLuMbEr PaRtY!

Our second annual New Years Slumber Party was a success!  Jamey, Matt and Addi (and Jackson) and Chilet, Jon, and Austin all packed their bags and came to party at the Hazelwood's for the night.  We decided last year that we didn't want to fight the roads with crazy drivers and came up with the slumber party idea.  The kids played in the bounce house and tour up the playroom while the adults sang many rounds of American Idol on the Wii!

Mandy, a co-worker of Chilet's, and her husband and step-daughter also came to celebrate the new years with us.  Thanks for the brownies and party hats Mandy!

And of course, we didn't make it through the night without Twilight talk.  Jamey and I got to sport our new shirts too!

Most of us made it through the night without getting sick (sorry Chilet!) and had a wonderful carb filled breakfast (pancakes, biscuits, lil smokies with croissants...we were trying to soak it all up!)  We made black-eyed peas and cabbage to get in our good luck and fortune for the new year!
