Maybe the Third Trip...

What started out as an awesome camping weekend ending in chaos again! First, the good highlights!

Friday Night Campfire! The boys LOVE the campfire.

The boys with Jon's new smoker...the ribs were wonderful!

My Little Bug

Chilet and Austin

Painting Easter Eggs

The Egg Hunt!

Poppy, Caiden, and Bebe: Visitors for lunch!

By Sat. afternoon the wind had really picked up and it was impossible to do anything outside. So, we ate and played cards inside Sat. night! Minus the wind, everything was great. Our spots were perfect, we took a walk to the park, the big boys played a round of disk golf, we had an egg hunt, and never even had to blow up the bounce house!
At about 10pm Sat. night a little bug or something he ate, got the best of Caiden. After three rounds of being sick, I decided I just couldn't keep that up in the camper all night long. The poor guy needed to be at home. SO, we left around 12pm, with TT and Sean watching over our camper. Little man was sick two times on the way home and then again a few times at home. It only lasted about 4 hours but he's pretty weak today. He was SO sad to leave "the camping" and I felt awful for him.

Two trips in a row, consisting of a 24 hour camping excursion. I'm pooped. We are praying that our Texoma trip in a few weekends is PERFECT. No rain, no snow, no wind, and no sick kiddos. Just SUN and FUN!

Caiden's New Shirt!

Baby H is expected to arrive Oct. 17th! We will officially rule that side of the calendar with birthdays! Baby H in October, me in November, Jon in December, and Caiden in January!

Thanks Amy for our new shirt! Caiden loves it even though he has no idea what it means =)

This is Why...

...we didn't stay at the campgrounds! They weren't playing around when they said there was a "chance" of snow! Holy smokes-Jon and I went to bed around 11 with a dusting of snow on our lawn and woke up to a winter wonderland! We had a good 5-8" of snow in most of our yard!

The temps are supposed to get into the 40's so we figured that the snow wouldn't stick around too long. The streets are already complete mush. SO, we ventured out once again this "winter" even though it's officially the 2nd day of Spring! Caiden and I got to wear our new boots we just got at Target for yucky weather on our camping trips!!!

We didn't last outside for too long...a few minutes throwing snowballs in the front yard and then we trudged to the backyard to play on the playground. Jon attempted to make a snowman but the consistency of the snow wasn't that great! Caiden loved watching Buster romp around like a rabbit...the poor dog had to hop to make his way around the yard because his belly dragged! A very interesting end to our Spring Break week! And to think it'll be back in the 70's by mid-week! Texas weather for ya!!!

Spring Break Part 2

Camping! Well, it was fun for the 24 hours we got to go! We had a great time watching the boys interact and play together. The campsites we had at Cleburne State Park were perfect with lots of shade and a playground right around the corner.

Caiden finally got into the groove of riding his tractor and he and Austin drove around all day! We hadn't had to charge it once since Christmas and that thing wore down fast! We charged it all night and he ran the battery out again the next morning!

Another first for Caiden was actually playing baseball for more than just a few swings at the bat. He and Austin took turns batting and running the bases. He got pretty good at his swing!

We had one campfire-Caiden's favorite part (just because of the smores!) We knew we were most likely going to have to cut our trip short because of the rain and cold weather moving in so we crammed as much in to one night as possible!

TAG

1. Open your first photo folder on your computer.
2. Scroll to the 10th picture.
3. Post that picture and the story behind it.
4. Tag 5 or more people.
Here's what I found!
Awe...the little guys: Austin and Caiden! This was from our first camping trip to Beaver's Bend: Broken Bow, OK in the summer of 2008. Caiden was only 1 1/2! This was probably the only shot we got of them in the pool b/c they didn't stay in it very long at all! We had a BLAST on that trip and have decided we will get a cabin every year from now on!!!
I tag: Tiffany C., Amy B., Taren T., Christina T., and Amanda C.

Spring Break Part 1

Aunt Casey and Uncle Steven came to visit (right after the dreadful dentist appointment!) and we got to spend some time hanging out with them for a few days. Caiden loves his Aunt Casey! He even got an early Easter basket! We ate lots of good food and lots of candy!!!

The Easter Bunny came early!

At the bowling alley!

Is it my turn yet?

Waiting for a strike!

Huge bubbles...Caiden LoVeD it!

Reading bedtime stories...

The Dentist

Not a very pleasant experience...the first dentist trip.
Caiden has never been good with new experiences and we kinda had a suspicion that this visit wouldn't go too smoothly. He is usually a little more calm with Jon, so he got to be the lucky one to sit with Caiden. During the cleaning he actually sat in the chair, but when the dentist came in, he sat with Jon. "Because of his behavior" we didn't do x-rays! No visible cavities! But, a few fractures due to falls. They assured us that most boys come in with a few chips in their teeth! Six months is going to come really fast!

Holy Cow!

I can't believe it's almost been a month since I've posted anything! This is definitely the "slowed down" part of our year. Jon transitions from basketball to track (meaning I can walk to school and he gets morning drop off duty with Caiden!) and the countdown to Spring Break is on! We've been spending weekends just hanging out as a family, enjoying this non-hectic schedule.

Caiden has been going to choir practice each Sunday with his favorite Sunday School teacher, Mrs. Colleen! He just battled a round of Scarlet Fever/Strep (I learned that Scarlet Fever is Strep with a rash!) He also tripped on his shoelace at school and ended up with a pretty nasty bruise beside his eye, but he's a tough guy! His new favorite thing to do is have a bedtime story before bed (after the million books we read before making our way to the bed!)

Life is good =)
