Valentine's Day

Although I don't particularly love this holiday (why should I be treated special only 1 day of the year and not the other 364?) this was the first year that Caiden actually understood V-day so I played along. Thank goodness b/c I got a heart rate monitor to use while I work out and I've wanted it for awhile!
Caiden got to open a small gift and then enjoyed a heart shaped banana nut muffin with sprinkles! We just hung out at the house and celebrated without the crowded restaurants!

A Buzz Lightyear box (filled with dinosaurs!)

No School!

I cannot even begin to describe how much fun we have had in the last 24 hours. We got 12" of snow in 24 hours and broke the record for the most snowfall in one day for Dallas/Ft. Worth! Needless to say, after freezing temps, school was cancelled today!!!
Caiden LOVED going outside with us doing the same things over and over: building snowmen, sliding down our hill, and throwing snowballs! We made two trips outdoors today; one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We were all pooped out from our morning excursion that we had to take naps to get rejuvenated for our afternoon adventure! We noticed things starting to melt away so we knew had to make the best of it today. We're secretly hoping our sliding ramp will freeze over so we can go out one more time in the morning!

Checking out the snow from overnight!

SnOw!!!

What a day! It snowed ALL day at school and the kids were out of control! We had so much fun watching it through the window while we worked and tried really hard to accomplish some of our lesson plans!

After school, Caiden was SO ready to get home to make a snowman and throw snowballs at Jon and me! He got to go outside at school with his friends and that helped ease the questionable emotions he had shown towards the snow this morning!

After bundling up, we headed outside for our first real snow time fun as a family! I think at this point in the afternoon we had 3-4 inches of snow with an empty lot beside us, and a huge field across the street! The world was our playground for the next hour! We built a snowman (that Caiden just wanted to kick down!) and threw lots of snowballs! It was a GREAT ending to the day!
