Fire Station!

Caiden has had a rough few weeks adjusting to several new teachers at a new school, and being away from mommy and daddy. Summer time spoils him with both of us off of work! But, today, he finally had a GREAT day! No accidents, and no crying (except at drop-off I'm sure=)
Since he is really into fire trucks and the fire station, we thought it'd be fun to take the kids over for a visit at the fire station that we pass by on our way to school each day.
He was so anxious to get there and "touch the truck" but then when it came time to get up in it, he turned shy! We did get to see the lights on, and the inside of the ambulance and fire truck! We even saw a call come through and the ambulance leave with the sirens on!
I love doing the little things like this, that make him so happy. It was a great way to end the first week of school! Great idea Amy!!!

Spray Park!

We're trying not to let go of summer yet!!! Amy and I took the boys to the spray park in Allen after work. It's so fun to watch them try and interact. Caiden is a little timid of the water spraying and Barrett is all over the place! I hope they will be great buddies in the years to come!

A Promised Boat Ride

Since Caiden made it through one week of school, getting better each day, Mrs. Shannon promised him a boat ride. So, no church once again! We had a blast although it was pretty windy which makes surfing a little difficult! And, for the second weekend in a row, I stayed up "ropeless" longer than Jon =)

Happy Birthday Scott-thanks for the boat ride!

Happy Birthday!

Happy 91st Birthday Mimi! We had fun eating with you!

First Day of School!

Caiden's first day at Summit was today and boy was he ready to go! We had been reading several books about going to school and talking about what he would do and who he teacher was. He had a new sleep sack and was more excited about that than anything! He walked right in this morning, said hi to Mrs. Shannon, and went straight back to his room. Trevor walked him in and after a kiss goodbye, he was gone! Since it was so easy for him, I was okay. I thought I'd leave crying, but I held it together!

He had a pretty good day~no accidents and I think he ate his lunch (corn dogs!) However, naptime was a little rough. He was crying so Trevor came and laid with him. I guess that's the perk of being friends with the owner =) And, apparently, if he can take a nap without crying for the rest of the week, he gets to go out on the boat again!

On the Lake

Our good friends Shannon and Scott invited us out on the lake today so instead of going shopping and getting yard work done, we threw on our suits and headed to Lake Lavon! Caiden always loves being on the water and is so mellow on the boat. The boys showed us how they wakeboard and then it was our turn to surf! We hadn't been out since last summer but both Jon and I were able to get up on the first try! Getting your balance right to actually ride the wave without holding on to the rope is pretty tough, but we both did it. I am proud to say that I rode longer than Jon did without the rope =)

Get It Out

As Jon and I are in Frisco trying to pull off a surprise party for our friend Matt (that he apparently already knew about!), we get a call from Grandma. Caiden stuck a Lego (one from a container that clearly says, ages 4+) in his nose. Of course he was upset and crying so she couldn't get him still enough to try to get it out. Jon and Nick rush back home to help Grandma. It wasn't very far in until he rubbed his nose and pushed it farther! With a flashlight, tweezers, and hands to hold Caiden's head, they got the Lego out! No blood, no damage, no doctors! Whew! SO not like little Caiden, but I guess there's is always a first for everything! At least he did it home and not on Monday during his first day of school =)

Cancun, Mexico

We were lucky to be invited to Cancun, Mexico with Bebe and Poppy for a few days and although Aunt TT couldn't make the trip because of her broken foot, we still had a really good time! Caiden got to experience lots of "firsts" and it was so fun watching his excitement!

The Great Parnessus hotel had an awesome kids swimming area complete with a pirate's ship pool! There was an 18 hole mini-golf course, an infinity pool, several bars and restaurants, and the ocean!

After a huge breakfast, we spent most the mornings at the pirate ship pool and kid's play area, then back inside to the lunch buffet! During Caiden's naps, Bebe stayed with him so Jon and I could hang out some on our own at the adult swimming pool. After naps, we played golf and ate dinner at the different restaurants topped off with ice cream and crepes from the bakery! We saw two shows at night and Caiden even got to meet Superman! Caiden had an absolute blast and we all loved watching him so happy! We took him down to the beach once and realized we didn't want to put up the the sand mess again! He wasn't scared although we went at high tide and he didn't go in past his waist with Jon. So many memories were made on this trip and I can't wait to go back to another all-inclusive with the fam! Thank you Bebe and Poppy for an unforgetable vacation!

Lots of pics below...so hard to choose the best and we wanted Aunt TT to see it all!!!
